McKenna Marchant and Sam Aramburu Headshots

How does everyone about the quarantine being lifted a little? Do you think it’s time, or that we should be giving it a little longer? I’m excited for more freedom, but I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do with more “freedom,” ya know? Anyway…

Last May I had the opportunity to do some headshots for McKenna Marchant (who was in our last ward in Orem before they moved) and her associate, Sam Aramburu, for the business they are starting together. At our session, they told me that their main plan was to start a podcast geared toward young adults to give them tips to transition from being a teenager to successfully living and thriving on their own.

The NuSkin building in Provo is one of my favorite year-round locations to shoot at. The building itself has a nice modern architecture with neutral coloring that makes it perfect for winter shooting, since there aren’t any dead plants to see. During warmer seasons though, there is plenty of green to go around that lend a lot of variety to the landscaping. While I lived in Utah County, the NuSkin building was actually one of my most photographed locations!

McKenna and Sam came with a lot of ideas for posing that they wanted to include in their headshot session which added a lot of personality and a very unique element to their photos. It also stretched me as an artist and photographer to capture them in a way that filled their vision! I was very pleased with the results.

In the middle of our session, we got hit with some rain. And while that might usually chase out a shoot, we got lucky with some beautiful light. The dark clouds made for a nicely exposed backdrop, and the sun being slightly casted with clouds gave us beautifully muted front light. The results were perfectly sharp and perfectly exposed images for stunning skin tones and overall color! We even got a rainbow to top it all off!
