ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Sierra Hinckley, owner and photographer of Sierra Hinckley Photography! I sincerely hope you enjoy exploring my little corner of the Internet here.  

Oftentimes, people in a professional field will tell you how they’ve always wanted to be in the profession that they’re in. That definitely wasn’t the case for me! I didn’t discover my love for photography until I went on a study abroad to Vienna back in 2014. All I had was a tiny point-and-shoot, but I used the heck out of that thing! Toward the end of the trip, all my new-found friends were complimenting me on my photos, and I realized how much I loved creating beautiful images to share my stories with people who couldn’t share my experiences with me.

Fast forward to the end of 2015, as I’m planning my wedding. Ohhhh the pictures. All the pictures. My husband was so sick of the pictures! But not me! I loved all of them. We had a great experience with our engagement pictures (a HUGE thanks to Kenzie Victory, she saved our butts) as well as our bridals and wedding (Elisha Braithwaite, I love you!), and as a result, I was so deeply inspired. I loved the feeling of loving my images, and I realized through my study abroad and my wedding process that I wanted to create art that struck others to the core as it did for me! Elisha is such a kind person, and her patience through all my questions on how to get started, how to make a good picture, and everything else you can think of helped me immensely to start shooting sessions for others. My husband gave me the surprise of my life on our first Christmas together with my first DSLR camera, having saved up all of his bonuses from work for that year to pull it off (cue the tears, every time I talk about it!). I did my first paid session at the beginning of the summer of 2017, and I’m still going strong, forming new friendships while making beautiful photos. I do what I love, and I love what I do!

And look where we are now! Hailing from Sparks, Nevada, I now live in Roy, Utah. I have four younger siblings, a brother and three sisters, who are all amazing people doing awesome things with their lives. I love to cook, I love to bake. I love to make music! I love to be outside in the creations God has made for us to enjoy. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I’m freaking proud of it. I love to read. I love to do things for others that make them smile. I’m an introvert who occasionally has bursts of extrovert moments (not in the weird introvert-stereotype way; I just value my alone time!) I love Nutella milkshakes. I love my husband— we’ve been married for three years, and we have the cutest fiery read-headed two-year-old and another baby boy joining us very soon! Life is so good, and it just keeps getting better. Thanks for joining me!
