Amelia and Thomas Part III- Wedding at the Draper, Utah Temple
Amelia and Thomas had a beautiful wedding day debuting as part III of their wedding suite! (You can find the engagements, part I here and the bridals, part II here) One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer for temple weddings is that I get the special opportunity to be one of the first people to see the couple after they get married, but before they exit the temple. Most of their guests haven’t seen them yet in their traditional wedding attire as husband and wife! I get to sneak into the waiting area of the temple to talk to the couple and do a tiny bit of coordinating for their exit. The love and joy and excitement they feel is so tangible.
One shot I got at this wedding that I haven’t ever gotten before is of the guests waiting in anticipation for the couple to come out. There is usually a loud celebration as the couple comes out of the temple doors together, and everyone’s faces have the enthusiasm written all over! I tricked a lot of the group because they thought I was the couple, not the photographer! If I can get this shot, it’s one of my new favorites to get!
Amelia and Thomas spent a lot of time hugging and greeting every single one of their guests. I love that they didn’t feel rushed to “get it all in” in a certain amount of time. I love that they trusted me to let their photo timeline be a little bit flexible so that they could be present with their loved ones but still get the must-have shots.
After group photos on the Draper Temple grounds, I was able to keep Amelia and Thomas for myself for a few more minutes to get some sweet intimate portraits before they had to scoot off to their reception. These short bridal sessions are so special because the couple always has a certain “glow” to them that they simply don’t have at a bridal session before their wedding. The love just oozes out of every pore!
